RELIGIOUS SCHOOL NEWS:

The students and teachers are currently enjoying their summer vacations. I want to wish Holly Price, one of our teachers a Tseithem L'Shalom as she travels to Israel with her fellow Melton class members. Holly will bring back experiences and information that will enhance her teaching for the school.

I am busy making curricular changes for next year. We will be introducing a new piece to the curriculum for grades 3-5. The curriculum is called the Chai Curriculum. It bases itself on teaching the students three core subjects: Torah, Avodah (worship to

G-d), and Gimilut Hasadim (acts of loving kindness). The students will also study Hebrew and prayer. We have also added some new topics for the Hebrew High school as well. The students will be learning about Israel, Jewish history, current events, learning to be classroom aides, learning about the movements in Judaism and the major world religions. They will also be working on a newspaper and a yearbook developing tzedekah projects.

In grades 6 and 7 (there will be a) great emphasis will be placed upon learning Hebrew and the prayers associated with becoming a Bar and Bat Mitzvah. On Wednesdays, our school is entitled Camp TBI. We will be featuring "classrooms without walls". Students will experience Israeli culture, history, society, and Jewish life, as well as participate in holiday experiences and develop tzedekkah projects.

If you have any questions about next year, please don't hesitate to contact me at the Temple.

Enjoy your Summer
